A Day trip to Pisa

We had a glorious day in Pisa, the sun was shining and it was plus 15 degrees Celsius without a cloud in the sky. We left in the morning from Lucca and walked to the train station where we boarded for a 30 or so minute ride to Pisa.  From the Pisa train station it’s another easy walk of about 25 min. to the Piazza dei Miracoli where the Tower, Cathedral, Baptistery and main tourist sights can be seen. Pisa is easy to get to and well worth a day trip. The nice weather just added to the enjoyment of the day, we wished we had packed a picnic for the park area surrounding the Cathedral but we relished just laying in the campo and taking in our surroundings.

The main sights of Pisa, the iconic leaning tower, Cathedral, Baptistery and museums are all together in the Piazza dei Miracoli which are easily walkable.  To view the inside of the Cathedral it’s free but you still need to get a ticket at the biglietteria at the back of the Piazza for one of the available set times.  If you wish to climb the tower or go in the Baptistery or Museums you will need to purchase tickets with different options available.

We spent about 4 hours taking in the sights of the Piazza and then headed back to the train station for the return to our temporary home in Lucca.  It was such an easy and enjoyable day.  We have one more day in Lucca and then we are hopping on the train again for a 4 day stay based in La Spezia to visit the famed Cinque Terre.

Sorry you guys are in such a deep freeze back in Calgary, thinking of everyone! As usual I’ve prepared a video below and here is the link to our days picks.
